The post op day has been going well, somewhat slow, but well.
Early on today she got out of bed for the first time, walked a few yards, and then sat back down. Without being able to eat or drink anything Joy is somewhat weak. After some more nausea, and going back to bed for a bit, she got out of bed, and this time walked about 3 times the distance than before. She can now get up and use the restroom (very good sign for post op). Both surgeons came by in the morning to check in on her. They removed the dressing on her incision, it is prefectly clean, and quite a beautiful sight, both are pleased with it. Dr. Silber had her on no liquids or solids yesterday, and now moved her into a clear liquid diet. If she continues to show improvements (i know she will) they will move her to some solids tonight and more tomorrow. It looks like she is going to spend at least one more night at the hospital.
Maeapple is doing great, i have not seen her yet today, but i heard from Mark (their father) that she is doing really good this morning. Up and about, taking a shower, all good to go. They are all coming by soon.
Here is a message from Joy directly.
Awww, poor groggy Joy….I hope the hourly check-ins start to slow down so you can get some well-deserved sleep. So sad that hospitals (especially recovery rooms) are the worst place in the world to get exactly what you need: REST.
Feel better, get rest, and most importantly: Don’t be a hero! Don’t push the envelope too hard. I know you like to prove doctors wrong sometimes
Just heal and stuff, don’t worry about the swiftness.
Many hugs comin’ from over here. I hope you can feel ‘em.
